Prior to founding JD Thornborough, John held various IT technical and management positions in transport and manufacturing organisations.
Since 1984, he has undertaken many roles in Australia, Asia, United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, and the United States of America.
In addition to operating the company, between 1988 and 2002, he was employed by a leading global ITC Professional Services Organisation, initially as a practice manager for strategic planning, technology and general consulting practices and latterly as the organisation’s CIO for Asia Pacific, then CIO for global operations outside of North America.
John has more than 8 years of experience in the CIO role for global IT services.
John's Business Background
John has more than 40 years of experience in Information Management, Technology, and Communications and has held various management, technical, and planning positions, with a background that includes management roles in strategic planning, sales, system delivery, technology, and operations.
In addition to these management roles, he has delivered more than 50 consulting assignments, almost all in the role of lead or sole consultant.
The assignments cover government, finance, banking, manufacturing, gaming, retail, distribution, utilities and transport.
Assignment types include: change and organizational realignment; creation and realignment of IT&C and business strategies; operational effectiveness assessments and realignments; technology assessments and strategies; and large-scale project management.
